September finds

Garlic is divine. Avoid at all costs that vile spew you see rotting in oil in screwtop jars. Too lazy to peel fresh? You don’t deserve to eat garlic.

― Anthony Bourdain, Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly

Or as I paraphased it for my friend today: if you dont peel garlic, you don’t deserve garlic.

I have peeled over 10 garlics today and one way to feel good about it was thinking about the above quote. It’s been a month working with claude code. Getting used to it and getting used by it. I’m the chief LLM operator in the house of shivanigans.

Infact, this current blog is being written in a fresh markdown file in VS code built with Svelte kit(and claude code) - A sentence I did not know I would be constructing in the start of the month.

Onto to the main course, I worked on Walks from Life

Walks from life was born out of noticing the shapes my walks take and how movement tells a story. I’ve started with documenting 9 of my walks mapped in different geographies but capturing whatever i’ve loved about them.

This below is what started the project for me.

Walking with a dog Dog walked me

For dessert, I worked on an illustration for someone’s wedding card. I love drawing people and have done past illustration for friends. but this was my first proper commission. I have another one in WIP. God bless millenials, I love befriending them.

I think my food for thought this month has been how the two projects fueled each other - a lovely symbiotic relationship, ladies and gentlemen.

A lot of creative momentum built with working on the illustration helped shape the walks project. There is more to work on the walks one but that did not stop me from making a V1.

For oct, the goal is to be seen. Share what I do and keep making stuff. I am yet to figure out a balance between LLM driven output and keeping up with learning to do things with my own hands. I’ve limited my written output to strictly a result from using my brains. More this perhaps once I work more to see what works for me.

That’s it for this one. This september, found its joy in some cracks.
